Alive with a vibrant pop spirit born in Manchester and kept alive across the decades, the CHANEL 2023/24 Métiers d’art show embraces the creative dialogue between Great Britain and the House, so dear to Gabrielle Chanel and today to Artistic Director of the Fashion collections, Virginie Viard. A testimony to the artisanal precision of the Métiers d’art, the collection shimmers and shines with playful nods to British music culture and CHANEL's art of tailoring. Contrasting autumnal and vivid colours, encrusted textures, pure silhouettes and carefree attitudes invoke a soft yet audacious femininity.

Manchestermodern Exhibition

Manchestermodern: past present future – a three-day exhibition, was curated by Factory International and CHAOS SixtyNine with the support of CHANEL and ran from December 8th to 10th at the Victoria Baths in Manchester following the CHANEL 2023/24 Métiers d’arts show.

The exhibition, open to all, gave a unique perspective on the tremendous history and creativity of Manchester by bringing together artists in the fields of photography, music, poetry, design, crafts, in resonance with the exceptional savoir-faire of the Maisons d’art at le19M. It also enabled the discovery of the art of embroidery during participative workshops animated by artisans and experts from Lemarié, Lesage and Atelier Montex.

CHANEL – Manchester

Creative dialogue is at the heart of every CHANEL Métiers d’art collection. It lies within the work between Artistic Director of the Fashion collections Virginie Viard, the ateliers at rue Cambon, the Maisons d’art at le19M, and connects artists and friends of the House, cities and cultures, season after season.

CHANEL has chosen to present the 2023/24 Métiers d’art show in Manchester, one of the most effervescent cities of pop culture and an avant-garde one, whose bands, spanning all genres, have changed the history of music.
